We were asked to create a useable and practical garden to replace the existing front garden bank in Ramsbury, Wiltshire. The existing lawn was difficult
to maintain and as a result unhealthy.

The approach was to tier the garden using a sequence of retaining walls, with steps leading
to a main level. A new lawn and paving were laid here to create a pleasant seating area from which
to enjoy the evening sun.

Additional space was reclaimed at the driveway level, providing more space for parking. This new surface was laid with a contrasting stone which ties in with the colours of the bricks that cap the walls, and the crushed slate used around the paving.

The upper level will be planted with additional flowering cherry trees and evergreen ground cover
to reduce maintenance requirements. The lower planters will be used for seasonal and perennial planting to soften the structural nature of the build.
