Bicester Bridge

Well, another Ed Brooks Furniture-Sangwyn collaboration has been completed.

Having designed the bespoke bridge to be
installed within an idyllic Oxfordshire country
estate, Ed Brooks Furniture asked us to work alongside them through the installation process.

The bridge was constructed by spanning locally reclaimed telegraph poles across the river. They were laid onto oak bearers attached to telegraph pole uprights that were set into the river bed.

The treads are cut from English oak and set in a non-uniform fashion, to emulate the surrounding gnarly chestnut trees.

The ropes were sourced from a local boatyard
and twisted to create a rustic hand rail, bound to
the posts using the original ceramic insulators
from the telegraph poles.
